Hitting a limit in the middle of a task can interrupt a work session. Using an expensive model for every request can also drain your budget quickly, even for simple operations.
RouterLab lets you adjust two choices: the access you use to keep working and the model that spends your credits. The open-source wrapper-scioNos launcher sets up the connection for the supported tools, including Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode.
The practical benefits show up in how smoothly you can continue working, how you distribute your budget and how much usage you get for the amount you pay.
An independent budget can help you continue a task when your usual allowance runs out. In Claude Code, a RouterLab connection uses RouterLab credits, which are separate from your Anthropic allowance. You can continue with a compatible model that your account is allowed to access, subject to the client's access conditions. How the connection works
You can also reserve your usual access for some tasks and use RouterLab for others. You do not have to replace all your existing subscriptions.
You can then share your RouterLab budget across several tools. Some credits can fund Claude Code calls, while others cover Codex or OpenCode. Usage routed through RouterLab can be tracked in one place.
This gives you flexibility if you prefer one tool for exploring a project and another for a different task. The budget for your API calls can follow that division of work.
The amount you pay can fund more usage than a model's list price alone might suggest. Consider this example using the prices displayed on October 13, 2026:
- A prepaid purchase of 100 USD provides 120 API credits.
- Eligible AWS Claude routes cost 40% less than the corresponding RouterLab Claude routes.
- If all 120 credits are spent on these routes, they fund a token volume that would cost 200 credits at the reference Claude rate:
120 ÷ 0.60 = 200.
The payment is still 100 USD, and the actual balance is 120 credits. The equivalent of 200 describes the usage volume at the reference rate, under these conditions. Prices and credit rules
The two benefits work differently: the bonus increases the credits you receive, while the route price reduces the credits you spend. Combining them can help your budget last longer without requiring a switch to a different model family.
Subscriptions offer another way to fund regular usage. Gold, for example, costs 39 USD per month for 85 monthly credits. Gold, Pro and Business subscribers also receive 150 credits for a 100 USD top-up. The monthly allowance is replaced at renewal; purchased credits are valid for 180 days and, for subscribers, enter a reserve that must be transferred to the API budget. Subscriptions and top-ups
The right choice depends on your consumption pattern. Evaluate a subscription against the credits you actually use each month. Prepaid credits let you spread a purchase over a longer period, within their validity window. A large bonus offers little benefit if the credits go unused.
Choosing a model to suit the task gives you additional flexibility. For an initial code review or an explanation, trying an economical model can be useful. For a complex problem, a more capable model may justify its price if it reduces repeated attempts and delivers a usable result sooner.
The useful comparison is the cost and outcome of the whole task. The price per token helps you choose, but the number of exchanges, caching, reasoning and response length all affect the final consumption.
The wrapper makes it easier to choose among the options available for each client. It saves you from setting up every connection manually. The project also offers a shared integration for Claude Desktop and Cowork. Its profile and proxy are tested; operation within the actual applications still needs validation. Validation scope
For a first trial, start with a client you already have installed and a task whose expected result you know. With Node.js and RouterLab access, open the menu:
npx wrapper-scionos@latest
Choose your tool and an allowed model, complete the task, then check the usage. This trial helps you assess what the connection adds to your own work: an additional access option, a different choice of models or more usage for your budget. Prerequisites are available in the project guide.
